The lake was originally stocked in 1974 and 1975 with Walleye, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Channel Catfish. The lake is restocked yearly by the Apple Valley Property Owners Association and the Apple Valley Fish & Restocking Club. Walleye, Saugeye, Small and Largemouth Bass make this a premier lake for sport anglers. Crappie, Shellcrackers, Bluegill and Yellow Perch are plentiful for family fishing. All kinds of boats (except houseboats and submarines) are permissible on the lake. All boats used on the lake must have Ohio registration and Apple Valley Registration decals affixed to the boat. This year boat decals cost $27 for powered boats and $10 for non-powered boats.

Apple Valley also has its own Marina at the North end of the lake. If you don't have a boat of your own, the Apple Vally Marina rents pontoon boats and small fishing boats to Apple Valley property owners.
Water skiing is a popular warm weather sport enjoyed by many property owners. Powered and non-powered boats are permitted on the lake with current Ohio and Apple Valley decals affixed to the side.
There are four boat launches for access to the lake. Most of the common areas around Apple Valley Lake have common docks for temporary docking (less than 12 hours) for those who don't own or rent a dock.  Protect our lake. The lake is Apple Valley's finest and most cherished asset. We ask all property owners and their guests to keep our lake clean by not polluting it with grass, leaves or trash. We also ask that nothing be burned at water's edge when at low pool! Help us keep the lake clean.
